[MAGAZINE]. Montjoie! The voice of French artistic imperialism. Paris, February 10, 1913–January–February 1914. — 12 issues in one folio volume, 415 x 280. Bradel-style marbled paper cardboard cover, smooth spine (contemporary binding). A nearly complete collection of this extremely rare avant-garde journal founded in 1913 by the Italian poet, novelist, critic, and playwright Ricciotto Canudo (1877–1923). Short-lived—it lasted only a little over a year—it provided a platform for Cubism and Orphism, and gave special prominence to poetry, prose, and articles on art, literature, theater, music, and history. Among its contributors were Guillaume Apollinaire, Maurice Raynal, Albert Gleizes, André Salmon, Igor Stravinsky, Érik Satie, Fernand Léger, Blaise Cendrars, Raoul Dufy, Stefan Zweig, Robert Delaunay, Max Jacob, and Émile Verhaeren. The first issue appeared on February 10, 1913; the last in June 1914. Our copy includes all twelve issues from 1913—the last two of which are double issues (10–11 and 11–12)— the supplement to Issue 3, devoted to the “29th Salon des Artistes Indépendants,” as well as the first double issue of 1914 (1–2, January–February) and the special insert featuring the “Table of Contents for the Year 1913,” which appeared alongside the first issue of 1914. Only the last two issues are missing: Issue 3 from March and the triple issue 4-5-6 from April-May-June. The cardboard binding is damaged, but the issues are very well preserved. Included are: - DIVOIRE (Fernand). Le Grenier de Montjoie! Documents on the History of Literature, Music, and the Arts of Today and Tomorrow. Paris: Éditions du Carnet Critique, 1919. — In-12, paperback. A copy on publication-quality paper, in very good condition.
