[MIRÓ (Joan)]. D'Aci i d'alla. Special Christmas issue dedicated to 20th-century art. Barcelona: Llibreria Catalònia, 1934. — Folio, 330 x 285, metal spiral binding, color illustration based on a drawing by Miró on the front cover. Cramer, 11 - Dupin, Miró the Engraver, I, 13 Issue No. 179, Christmas Special 1934, undoubtedly the most sought-after issue of this Spanish art magazine. It serves as a veritable guide to new trends and avant-garde aesthetics, providing insights into both the art world and the latest developments in the fields of interior design and architecture. But it is in this issue that we find what is certainly the rarest and most beautiful of Miró’s stencils, printed in yellow, red, and black—one of only five stencils created by the artist throughout his career. Titled *Figures davant el mar* (*Figures by the Sea*), it illustrates Carles Sindreu’s text *Joan Miró* and was created specifically for the magazine. The artist cut the stencil shapes himself from sheets of zinc—one sheet per shape and per color—leaving the spaces to be filled with ink blank, before the Pochoir Publicity Art – J. Mateu studio in Barcelona applied the colors with a brush. The artist also provided the drawing reproduced on the cover; in addition to these two illustrations, the issue features black-and-white and color reproductions of works by Seurat, Picasso, Braque, Juan Gris, Henri Rousseau, Fernand Léger, Mondrian, Brancusi, Man Ray, and others, as well as numerous photographs of architecture and fashion. Tears on the cover, some with missing sections; repair on the back cover. The interior and the stencil are very well preserved.
