LABOUREUR (Jean-Émile) - TOULET (Paul-Jean). Les Contrerimes. Paris: H. M. Petiet, [1930]. — In-4, 308 x 237: 145 pp., (3 ff., the last 2 blank), printed cover. Loose-leaf, with a laced folder and publisher’s slipcase. Sylvain Laboureur, *Complete Catalog of the Works of Jean-Émile Laboureur*, II, pp. 175–190, no. 404. A fine edition, elegantly printed by Jean-Gabriel Daragnès, who handled the typesetting and engraving of the initial letters, and illustrated with 62 burin engravings by Jean-Émile Laboureur (1877–1943). In publishing this work, H. M. Petiet demonstrated his great qualities as a bibliophile, as Hervé Dufresne would recall in his introduction to the catalog for the sale of the Henri Marie Petiet library, held on June 5, 2003: “This pursuit of quality found its fullest expression when, in 1930, he published P.-J. Toulet’s *Contrerimes*, featuring chisel engravings by Laboureur and printed by Daragnès—one of the most beautiful illustrated books of the 20th century.” Limited edition of 301 copies on Arches vellum, “numbered and signed by the artist” (this copy bears the number 214). Very well-preserved copy.
