NICHOLSON (William). [The Square Book of Animals]. [London, circa 1896–1899]. — 12 woodcut plates, mounted on cardboard, in a folder with flaps. An extremely rare set of 12 illustrations by Nicholson for the book *The Square Book of Animals*, published in 1900, printed from the original woodblocks. Each print, measuring approximately 13 x 13 cm, was mounted on white cardboard (27.9 x 27.3 cm) at the time, hand-colored, and signed by the artist; the signature appears on the cardboard, below the print, on the left. There is foxing on the portfolio.
