Two kozuka, Japan, Edo period (1603–1868)
- One is made of iron and decorated in iroe takazogan with two peasants braving the rain; one is under a split bangasa, while the other is entirely covered by a mino, a straw raincoat worn by peasants. L.: 9.5 cm. Dented on the back and shows very slight wear. - The other is made of shibuichi, chiseled in slight relief and inlaid with hira zogan and taka zogan in gold and silver, depicting a fox disguised as a woman, with a portion of a torii inlaid in shakudo on the back. Probably a reference to the Kuzunoha legend. On the back is a barely legible engraved signature that could read 東柳軒主兼隨—Kaneyuki, master of Tōryūken. Length: 10 cm
Slightly patinated on the back.
