Guan-style porcelain brush washer, 18th–19th century
Shaped like the cap of a lingzhi mushroom, the brush washer is entirely covered with a thick bluish-gray glaze crisscrossed by a fine network of black and brown crackles. It rests on a short, brown-glazed foot. The brown-glazed foot, executed in the “tiezu” (“iron foot”) style, is reminiscent of Guan-style wares from the Southern Song dynasty.
