Beautiful Italian wheellock pistol. Round barrel with a flanged muzzle, rifled at the muzzle. Rifled breech. External wheel lock surrounded by a flange and chiseled with foliage scrolls, secured by two screws. Hammer made of iron, finely chiseled with scrollwork. Plain belt hook. Hook base engraved “C.F.C.” Chiseled, engraved, and openwork iron trigger guard decorated with foliage motifs. Chiseled iron-tipped trigger bar. Frame and flat octagonal cap very richly decorated with iron inlays featuring openwork foliage scrolls. Stock made of fruitwood, partially carved. Length: 45.7 cm A.B.E. Early 17th century. Italy.
