Francis PONGE (1899–1988). Signed autograph manuscript, *Fables logiques*, [circa 1925]; 5 pages, in-4.

A beautiful manuscript of three fables devoted to linguistic poetics.
They were published separately in three different collections.
I “Naissance de Vénus” [1922], an exercise on the “use of the present tense,” was included in 1961 in the “Lyres” section of *Le Grand Recueil*. “Oh! I don’t remember the wave: I am no longer there”…
II *Spirits of the Imperfect* or *The Flying Fish* [1924] was included in 1948 in the collection *Proêmes*; six poetic addresses entrusted to characters: Apio, Vosca, Pisco, Poski, Vasco, and Iopa.
III *Du Logoscope* [circa 1925], on the physiognomy of words, was the only text retained from the series titled *Fables logiques* published in the journal *Le Disque vert* in July–August 1953, and was later included in 1951 in the “Methods” section of the *Grand Recueil*.
Francis Ponge described his work on these *Fables logiques* in his *Entretiens avec Philippe Sollers*.
