Charles MAURRAS (1868–1952). Signed autograph manuscript, *La Politique*, [August 1942]; 20 pages, small in-4 format, on school notebook paper.

Manuscript with strikings-through and corrections of a three-part article published in *L’Action Française* on August 10, 1942 (the newspaper is included); it contains some variations from the printed text.
I. The Primacy of the Army. Maurras accuses the Socialists of having neglected the army, just as it had been neglected by demagogues and even moderates: “Little Thiers was afraid of soldiers”; the Dreyfus Affair destabilized it. It must become the moral guide of the Nation: “This primacy of the army would correspond, in the realm of practical life, to the primacy of patriotism in the realm of sentiment”…”
II. Statements on Capital and Property. Reflections on property, labor, and capital within the framework of the “National Revolution,” castigating “the worst agents of anonymous and vagabond wealth—Jews and non-Jews, whether or not they have disguised themselves as Gaullists or more or less disguised communists, to stir up the chaos of anarchy”…
III. August 10, celebrating the anniversary and glorifying the heroic defense of the Swiss Guards during the attack of August 10, 1792, against Louis XVI.
