[THE DREYFUS AFFAIR] Jean-Louis FORAIN - Caran D’ACHE. Psst…! Paris: Librairie Plon, 1898–1899. All 85 issues bound into a single folio volume. Half-leather binding in fair condition. (Foliate spots on the first page). 40 x 28 cm Complete collection of all 85 issues of this anti-Dreyfusard satirical weekly newspaper published by the painter Jean-Louis Forain (1852–1931) and the cartoonist Caran d’Ache (1859–1909). It appeared from February 5, 1898—the start of Émile Zola’s trial—until September 16, 1899, when Dreyfus was granted a presidential pardon. Each issue consists of two pages illustrated with black-and-white caricatures by the two artists. According to Bertrand Tillier, in *Les artistes et l’affaire Dreyfus: 1898–1908*: “Forain and Caran d’Ache already had solid experience with the visual medium and its unique qualities… The subtitle of *Psst…!* praised […] the collaboration of two cartoonists as experienced as they were renowned […] and while it also emphasized the exclusivity of the images, it highlighted the complementary nature of Forain’s styles and approaches (“bitter irony, the piercing line, the biting caption”) on the one hand, and Caran d’Ache’s (“current events rendered in picturesque images, when not treated in the manner of a painting”) on the other. Indeed, *Psst…!* sought to reconcile two graphic worlds, two satirical tones, and two visions of the Dreyfus Affair, all of which were united by anti-Semitic, xenophobic, anti-German, Catholic, nationalist, militarist, anti-republican, anti-naturalist, and anti-Zola views. ” (Artists and the Dreyfus Affair: 1898–1908. Champ Vallon, 2009, pp. 199–200). Keywords: Judaica, Jew, Jewish, Hebrew, rabbis, Torah, Hebrew, Hebraica, Judaism, synagogue, Zionism, Passover, Pesach, Haggadah, Passover, menorah, Hanukkah, Torah, Juden, Israelite, Israel, antisemitism, Dreyfus, Megillah, Sephardic, ketubah
