[MANUSCRIPT - PRAYERS]
Prayer for the High Holy Days.
4 pages, in-8 format. Scribe’s handwriting that may be Italian. Probably 17th century.
The text is organized in the form of a responsory (liturgical chant) between the cantor and the congregation. The cantor highlights the unworthiness of the nations, while the congregation extols the greatness of the Jewish people. The liturgical section recited by the Jewish people follows the alphabetical order, skipping one consonant each time. The vocalization, which does not follow current standards, seems to indicate that the manuscript dates at least to the 17th century.
