[CALLIGRAPHY] PEÜCHLEIN (Andreas). Religious calligraphic composition. In German, watercolor composition on paper. Germany, composition dated 1764. Large composition, on paper, brown ink and watercolor (green and yellow), with a large captioned drawing (sun and stars), writing in Gothic, and cursive. Framed, under glass. Dimensions(at sight): 725x535mm Good overall condition, some wetness in the upper part of the leaf with ink streaks, without hindering reading. A few folds to the leaf. Large leaf, fine example of calligrapher's work, signed by Andreas Peüchlein. At the bottom of the composition: "Andreas Peüchlein hat dises geschreiben anno 1764". The calligrapher does not specify where this work was copied. Incipit: "Jesus Christus Die Sonne der Gerechtigkeit...". [Jesus Christ, the Sun of Righteousness...] (Malachi, 4:2). The biblical text of Malachi 4:2 is: "But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness will rise, and healing will be under its wings...". This explains the captioned sun motif and drawing below the text. Several captions accompany the sun and star drawings, with references to sacred texts. Around the star we read in larger letters: "Ehre seÿ Gott der Heiligen Dreyfaltigkeit", a reference to a prayer by Saint Augustine on the Holy Trinity (Heiligen Dreifaltigkeit).
