[NAPOLÉON]. André PONS de l'Hérault (1772-1853).2 L.A.S., 1847 and n.d., to his friend Denis Larabit, deputy; 2pages in-4 (cracks at folds) and 1page in-8, addresses. On the island of Elba, where Pons was mining administrator during Napoleon's exile, which he followed during the Hundred Days. September 30, 1847. He asks Larabit, who, as a lieutenant, had followed the Emperor to Elba, to break his silence and answer a dozen or so questions he lists, so that he can complete his history of Elba. The second letter is a recommendation for Mathias, who was attached to the imperial saddlery on Elba and employed in the Emperor's household. Attached is a very interesting Rapport written on the island of Elba, dated Portoferrajo from February 16 to March 1, 1815, and recounting all the events that took place there during this period. It is a 25-page in-4 notebook, in which the English surveillance of the island, Princess Pauline, Empress Marie-Louise and, of course, the Emperor are discussed.
