Charles-Joachim COLBERT DE CROISSY (1667-1738) bishop of Montpellier. Manuscrit, Lettres choisies de Mr Colbert Évêque de Montpellier mort le 8 avril 1738 ; un volume in-8 de 339pages, bound in later half-brown calf, spine decorated. Collection of 103 letters, mainly to nuns. This careful copy, late dated July 9, 1833, was probably made by Sister Souchet, whose name appears on the flyleaf, with a cross braided in white and gilded paper, which touched the relics of the martyrs Denis, Rustique and Eleuthère. Following the letters from Mgr Colbert, we have copied a letter from Jean Soanen (1739), and a fragment on the history of the Jesuits.
