Ivory snuffbox with vermeil interior, China for export, 19th century The lid is carved with an intricate design of pavilions in a wooded, mountainous landscape with a winding river. A Greek frieze is engraved all around. The oval-shaped body of the snuffbox is adorned with four carved reserves of the same type of decoration on a background engraved in light relief in the style of broken glass. The inside of the snuffbox and its lid are lined with vermeil plates bearing English hallmarks. 3.5 x 5 x 9 cm; weight: 138 g
