Beige and red jadeite snuffbox, China, 1760-1860 Rectangular in shape with rounded shoulders, three of the bottle's sides are crystalline beige. The fourth has been skilfully carved to reveal a natural russet skin that follows the contour perfectly, rendering the monochrome russet appearance invisible when the bottle is viewed from other sides. It rests on an oval base. Stopper in stained bone imitating coral. Height: 5.5 cm Minor chip to neck.
