Wucai-enameled porcelain covered vase, China, Transition period (1620-1683) Decorated in blue underglaze and polychrome enamels with three large four-clawed dragons in green, yellow and eggplant enamels, each in pursuit of a flaming pearl amid flames and clouds in the form of a lingzhi mushroom. At the bottom of the body are stylized spiral-shaped waves from which emerge rocks and mountains symbolizing the earth. The shoulder is decorated with a frieze in the "broken ice" style, and the neck with leaves. The base is unglazed. Attached lid decorated with three precious objects on a background of flames and clouds. Height: 40 cm Fels on neck and base, chips on lid.
