Attributed to Gabriel ALLEGRAIN (1679-1748) Country scene in a landscape near a lake Canvas 83 x 130 cm No frame Old restorations We would like to thank Hugo Coulais for suggesting this attribution after a visual examination in January 2026. It brings our painting closer to the two paintings of Dunkerque (canvas, 24 x 33 cm), published by François Marandet in 2021 (see F. Marandet, "Gabriel Allegrain (Paris, 1679 - id., 1748): révélations sur un paysagiste du temps de Louis XV", in Les Cahiers d'Histoire de l'Art, 19/2021, figs. 12 and 13). Gabriel Allegrain was the son of Etienne Allegrain, and exhibited at the Salon from 1737 to 1747.
