Henri ALAIN-FOURNIER (1886-1914). L.A.S., November 4, 1910, [to Charles Dumas]; 1 1/2 pages in-8 on laid paper.
He mentions his note from the "Courrier des Théâtres" in Paris-Journal, "entitled l'envoi de Rome de M. Dumas" [Charles's brother, composer Louis Dumas (1877-1952) had won the Grand Prix de Rome in 1906, and in 1910 sent a lyric tale, Le Médecin de Salerne]. He adds: "A P.S. I had dedicated to your one-act comedy has been cut. Let me know as soon as you present it somewhere, and we'll devote a more important note to it". He asks him to take an interest in Mme Sempastous' situation. He gives her address as "2, rue Cassini".
[The same fate befell the two men who died for France in 1914: Alain-Fournier on September 22, and Charles Dumas on October 31. The poet Charles Dumas (1881-1914) had won the Prix Sully-Prudhomme in 1903 for his first collection, L'Eau souterraine. His one-act comedy in verse, Marceline, which Alain-Fournier wrote about, was performed at the Odéon].
