Jules ROMAINS. L.A.S., Grandcour, Saint-Avertin April 7, 1950, to Vincent Auriol, President of the Republic; 2pages in-4 addressed to him.
He has just returned from a trip to the South-West. The President's letter gave him great pleasure. He passed through Muret (where Auriol was a deputy). In Toulouse, he revisited the room where Auriol had been kind enough to chat with him about the situation (in October 1938, shortly after Munich) during a veterans' banquet at which he had given a speech. In Toulouse, too, he has just given his last lecture. "Toulouse was swarming with people and almost impassable because of the fair". He and his wife spend a few days in Grandcour before returning to Paris.
Enclosed is a small L.A.S. to Maurice Escande, February 16, 1963, asking about the status of their affair (1p. in-12, envelope).
