Élisabeth-Rachel Félix, known as RACHEL. L.A.S., Paris 10 a.m. [June 1845], to Madame Samson; 3pages in-8. Beautiful letter to the wife of her teacher Joseph-Isidore Samson, sociétaire and doyen of the Comédie-Française, who brought her into that theater. "My dear Madame Samson, I'm leaving this morning and was unable to kiss you before my distant peregrinations. I hope you don't mind that I didn't go to Charenton to bid you farewell, because you have no doubt that if I had been able to, despite the extraordinary performances I have given at the theater in the last fortnight, I would have eagerly seized the moment that would have given me a few hours' leisure to go and embrace you all. She plans to return to Paris in July: "I have just missed Lyon, I am very upset about it, and certainly if I am not committed to giving more performances where I have to go [Nantes] I will come back to spend twenty days in Marly before setting off again for Strasbourg and Nancy, which are scheduled for August"... She does not forget her "ravissant filleul" (Samson's grandson), to whom she has promised a white horse. She concludes: "Adieu ma bonne bonne mère car vous l'êtes toujours [...} aimez moi comme je vous aime"...
