Gaby MORLAY (1893-1964). L.A.S., [July 1929?], to Jacques Baumer; 6 1/4 pages in-4 in blue ink. Long letter to his actor friend [Jacques Baumer (1885-1951)]. She thanks him for putting together the sketch she's performing at the Empire. The audience laughed a lot, but the experience was enough for her, as she made a film with Jacques Feyder, Les Nouveaux Messieurs, in which she starred. She told her friends that the reason she deprived herself of a vacation while making this film was that she was interested in cinema and wanted to work with Feyder. But to Baumer, whom she loves like a brother, she confesses that it's to save herself from a deep neurasthenia, and that only hard work can be a remedy: "Here's Jacques, the poor little story of a being we envy and jealously. What a pity"... Attached is a L.A.S. from Gaby Morlay and her husband Max Bonnefous, Bougival, October 6, 1951, to a friend, about the success of Roussin's play, which will prevent them from going to Nice (2p. in-4); plus a business card with 2 autogr. lines.
