Lucien GUITRY. L.A.S., 26, place Vendôme March 21, 1901, [to Maurice de Féraudy]; 3 pages in-8 (photo enclosed).
On the death of actor Edmond Got. "I said to myself yesterday as I was leaving you, 'He looks deeply and intimately touched.' That was Father Got, eh! I feel sorry for you - our great old friends are leaving one after the other, and it's all crumbling! All these disappearances would be abominable if Divine Egotism didn't pull us up by our sleeves a little"... He talks briefly about the play he's putting on [Capus's La Veine, at the Variétés], then continues: "I would have liked to tell you how good I found you in the midst of all those poor fools (we can talk freely, eh!) you alone gave emotion, by speaking. - It was distraught - overwhelmed - distraught good, pitiful... and human. But yesterday you were with whom you know & for all the gold in Le Bargy's ransom, I wouldn't have said as much to Mounet. - What can I say? I love "Expression Humaine" too much!!!"...
We enclose a L.A.S. to Charles Le Bargy, [1902] (1p. in-8); another L.A.S. about Le Misanthrope (1921; 3p. in-8); plus his calling card with 2 autogr. lines (1p. in-8).
