Marie DORVAL. L.A.S., December 18 [1845], to actor Samson; 1 page and a half in-8. She tells him "how pleased I am with your charming comedy of Les Poissons [La Famille Poisson or Les Trois Crispin, premiered December 15, 1845 at the Comédie-Française, where Samson was starring in his own play], it had been a long time since I had seen such a true, cheerful and witty play performed at the Comédie Française. It inspired your comrades, for they all played their parts well, with a verve and talent that does them and you great credit. Above all, as author and actor, you must have been very pleased with Provost, who understood and interpreted you admirably! I'm not talking about you, a model we'll never see again"... Label from the Henri Bachimont collection.
