Jean DESBORDES (1906-1944). L.A.S., Paris [December 1937], to Édouard Bourdet, administrator of the Comédie-Française; 1page in-fol.
About his play La Mue, received by the reading committee on April 4, 1933 [these two prose acts were premiered on April 25, 1938 as L'Âge ingrat by Berthe Bovy, Madeleine Renaud and Jean Weber]. He saw the performers of his play, who would be returning from vacation around February 10: "It seems to me that - albeit delayed, rehearsals could - if you agree - start there". Henri Ghéon has stopped distribution of his play and is awaiting Bourdet's call. [Ghéon's little drama Il y eut deux enfants de roi, which was to have been given as a complement to La Mue, will never be performed].
Enclosed is the announcement for the church service and burial, on July 31, 1945, of Jean Desbordes (Duroc in the Resistance), murdered by the Gestapo on July 6, 1944 at the age of 38.
