Constant COQUELIN aîné. L.A.S. "Coq", January 25, 1909, to a friend [Mme Schlecta-Le Bargy]; 1page oblong in-12, on the back of a postcard with color illustration by Jacques Villon (for Gala Henri Monnier). One of the very last letters from Coquelin [who died of a heart attack on January 27]. "This is how we risk leaving each other! What a crisis! It's been terrible, but it's starting to get better, and we're starting rehearsals for Chantecler. Write a nice letter to the poor exile, who, incidentally, is happy to get well and rest - and who will see you again with infinite pleasure"... [Lucien Guitry reprised and created the role of Chantecler on February 7, 1910].
