Maurice CHEVALIER (1888-1972). L.A.S., Marnes-la-Coquette February 7, 1957, to Robert Pizani; 1 page in-4 on La Louque letterhead. Actor Robert Pizani (1896-1965) was organizing the XXVIIth Gala de l'Union des Artistes, at the Cirque d'Hiver (March 2, 1957). Chevalier humorously insisted "that the 'Chevalières' who will do me the honor of introducing me (on the dance floor) on the evening of the Gala de l'Union, be as generously gifted - on the log side - as they were on the talent side. Failing which, I shall be obliged to withdraw, taking with me in protest the straw hats worn by the ponies, which could still come in handy if my career were to last."
