VERA SZÉKELY (1919-1995) & PIERRE SZÉKELY (1923-2001) & ANDRÉ BORDERIE (1923-1998)
The artistic collaboration between the Székely couple and André Borderie remains a landmark experience in French ceramics in the 1950s. After meeting in Vienna, they settled near Paris in 1948 and began a joint ceramic production characterized by free, abstract and sometimes surrealist forms, populated by anthropomorphic and sacred figures. Under the influence of the Bornois revival, notably that of Élisabeth Joulia, their style evolved, gaining in sobriety but retaining certain engraved graphic decorations. The trio's ceramic adventure came to an end in 1957, with each of them pursuing their own artistic paths.
