YVES MOHY (1928-2004) Large teapot; double metal handle. Stoneware and glazed. Signed MOHY towards the base. Height: 20cm - Length: 20cm Provenance: Gilbert Baud Collection: Gilbert Baud Collection. YVES MOHY (1928-2004) With a dual background in architecture and ceramics, Yves Mohy moved to La Borne in 1955 with Monique Lacroix, where he took part in the revival of stoneware alongside the Lerats and Élisabeth Joulia. Initially focusing on utilitarian pieces, his ceramic production soon turned to sculptures and highly constructed pieces - which question shapes, volumes, cracks, light and material. Their power is reflected in the impression of monumentality they convey. From the 1980s onwards, his plastic research extended to other materials - continuing the quest for confrontation between forms and materials that has always driven his reflections.
