ANDRÉ-ALETH MASSON (1919-2009)
André-Aleth Masson's work could be summed up by his identity as a "painter-plastician". His work as a ceramist is characterized by pure, monumental and often asymmetrical forms, with an architectural presence. Resolutely abstract, his ceramics play on volumes and glazes with mirror effects or bright colors, sometimes enriched with geometric decorations. From the 1960s onwards, Masson broadened his practice to include sculpture, painting, engraving and wall panels. A member of the Mur Vivant group alongside André Borderie, he developed a body of work guided by a constant reflection on the plasticity of forms.
