PIERRE LÈBE (1929-2008)
Influenced by the pioneers of La Borne and Japanese ceramics, Pierre Lèbe soon turned to stoneware. He developed a body of work that resonated with nature, emphasizing material and form through throwing, modeling and sculpture. He developed his own chamotte clay and glazes based on plant ashes, giving his pieces subtle, refined grain surfaces. In 1968, he collaborated with the Virebent factory before pursuing his research independently. A protean artist, he also explores textiles, drawing, furniture and architecture.
