PIERRE KOPPE (1931-2016) Painter and ceramist Pierre Koppe trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Nancy, before becoming a professor at the École des Beaux-Arts in Metz, where he set up his studio in 1959. Influenced by the work of Jean Derval, his work is also adorned with a subtle irony and a vivid palette, which together give rise to a world of characters and creatures, shaped by highly graphic decorative lines. His ceramic work is a response to his pictorial work - both dominated by a crying optimism.
