BORIS KASSIANOFF (1932-2016)
A Russian-born ceramist and painter based in Vallauris, Boris Kassianoff's utilitarian work has long remained anonymous. Working in close proximity to Albert Thiry, from whom he drew his inspiration, and not signing his creations, his work is frequently confused with that other Vallauris potter. His style, however, seems to be defined by the use of a darker, heavier chamotte clay, the white-gray aspect of his covers, and the use of blue and incised motifs in his decorations.
