THE CLOUTIER BROTHERS - JEAN & ROBERT CLOUTIER (1930-2015) & (1930-2008)
From 1955 onwards, twins Jean and Robert Cloutier developed an original and varied ceramic production, covering utilitarian and decorative objects as well as architectural creations. Trained by Georges Jouve and Pol Chambost, they combined their technical mastery and boundless imagination to create a singular plastic universe. Their free, poetic work explores anthropomorphic, zoomorphic and hybrid forms, often in monochrome or bichrome, with distinctive red-glazed interiors. Incomparable creators, the Cloutier brothers are essential players in the post-war revival of ceramics.
