ANDRÉ BAUD (1903-1986)
Trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Bourges and the Arts appliqués in Paris, then in numerous workshops and earthenware factories throughout France, André Baud opened his own studio in a former factory in Vallauris in 1942, with his wife Micheline Bour. Alongside the Ramié, Capron and Picault families, he played a key role in the village's cultural life, contributing to the revival and dissemination of post-war ceramics. A creator of both utilitarian and decorative pieces, he developed a personal style with sober forms and refined graphic decorations, dominated by matte black and white enamels - emblematic of Vallauris' Golden Age.
