Icon, Christ Pantocrator surrounded by saints. First half of the 19th century.
On the top row from left to right: St. John the Theologian, the Apostle Peter, the Apostle Paul and St. Nicholas. Below, to the left and right of Christ, two archangels, then the Virgin Mary and Saint John the Forerunner. Then come two unidentified saints. Prostrate at the foot of the Lord are Saints Zosime and Sabbatios of Solovki.
Oklad-cadre in repoussé vermeil. The frame does not match the icon, coming from an icon of the Mother of God in Affliction (образ скорбящия Пресвятыя Богородицы). Interesting case of recycling an oklad for its value and not its symbolism.
Hallmarks: 84, Nizhny Novgorod, 183[1?], assayer "С-С" (Semen Vasiliev Sivokhine) and silversmith "МТ" (Matveï Fedorov Telogreev).
36 x 30.5 cm; gross weight: 1165 g
