Alexei Mikhailovich REMIZOV (1877-1957)
Three autograph letters from Remizov to Denis Roche.
- February 26, 1926: "Most honored Monsieur Denis Roche, / forgive me, in the name of God, there is no way I can reach you at the time indicated. At Saint Sulpice, mass starts at 3 1/2. I arrived late. And it was already too late to go to your house. / Please tell me a time when I can get to your house (except this Wednesday 24/02) best after 12 noon. / I'll bring you the book. / Regards from my wife Seraphima Pavlovna."
- March 3, 1926: "Most honored Monsieur Denis Roche, / I can't come to your place at all tomorrow and I'm getting ready to come next Saturday, if it's convenient don't reply, if it's not possible, let me know. / Your dictionary of artists has kept me very busy; please exhibit what has been written about it in French. It's a very big job, and it mustn't remain in manuscript; we must find a way for it to appear in Russian (unfortunately, the (Russian) documents are not reproduced exactly - from the point of view of spelling) / Prince Gica: I can't find his address at the moment / Regards from Seraphima Pavlovna."
- April 5, 1927: "Honored Monsieur Denis Roche, / We are expecting you and Monsieur Joseph Ageorges on Thursday, April 9 at 9 p.m. / The Tolstoy evening has been postponed until June 18 / I will try to give you an answer by Thursday about the "Salut à St Sulpice" / Greetings from Seraphima Pavlovna."
Attached is an invitation addressed to Remizov from Istselenof [Nikolai Ivanovich Izselenov (1891-1981)] on a vernissage card for an exhibition by Alexandre Iacovleff of June 17, 1927.

Provenance: Archives of Denis Roche.
