Large Koran box, Morocco, 20th century Rectangular in shape with a domed hinged lid, made of copper alloy partly plated with chased metal leaf, and decorated with filigree and colored glass paste cabochons forming an oval medallion framed by four spandrels. Two side handles and diamond-shaped metal mesh trimmed with blue and red pearls highlight the base. Interior lined with red velvet. Height (without mesh): 31.2 cm Wear, minor chips, some restorations to the pewter.
