One side features a calligraphic title in red ink, while the other features an illustration in gouache and gold, and a margin painted with a gold floral design. The painting depicts Yusuf, his face shrouded in flames, seated on a throne and surrounded by several men and a veiled old woman seated on the ground. Behind a hill in the background, a horseman and two men, including a dervish with his tabarzin, observe the scene.
