Lotus-decorated star tile, Ilkhanid Iran, late 13th - early 14th century Siliceous ceramic covering tile with petit-feu (lajvardina) decoration in white enamel and gold highlights on a blue background, depicting a floral bouquet with three blossoming lotus stems. Diameter: 21 cm Restorations, wear, missing gilding and glaze. Tiles with similar decoration are held in international collections such as the Musée du Louvre, Paris (OA 3350), the British Museum, London (1878,1230.570, 1878,1230.569, G.273) and the Metropolitan Museum, New York (40.181.16 and 20.120.73).
