DAUM FRÈRES - ARTISTIC GLASSWORKS OF NANCY Les Blés sauvages - Hommage à Claude Monet, circa 1905, the only known example of this model, artistic glassware probably made at the time for an exhibition. Exceptional tapering shell vase on pedestal. Produced in multi-layered glass, the rotating title decoration features bearded ears of corn rendered in large applications of orange-tinted glass, modeled and hot-glued on a background treated in the style of an Impressionist painting, simulating a grassy field with possible poppies, and executed in intercalary colorations - the upper part evoking a clear sky. The base of the vase's body also features applications forming barley stems and leaves. The pedestal is decorated with marmoreal clouds. A few hairs on the beard of the originally interrupted ears of barley. Signed DAUM Nancy with the Cross of Lorraine, in intaglio towards the base of the vase body. Height: 33.5cm Archives and related work: Musée d'Orsay, Paris - A variant of our work, with an applied butterfly, reproduced and referenced in the documentary file devoted to the Daum Nancy firm, kept in the conservation documentation of this institution.
