CHOPIN (Henri).
OU. Cinquième saison. Journal of evolutionary poetry.
Sceaux : Henri Chopin ; Ingatestone : The Gate House, [1964-1974]. - 12 issues in-4, folio or paperback, in cover with flap glued to two pieces of wood.

Very rare set of almost all the issues published under the title OU, of this avant-garde revue-disque founded and directed by the concrete and sound poet Henri Chopin (1922-2008).{Inspired by Dadaist magazines such as Pierre Albert-Birot's SIC, Chopin launched Cinquième Saison (1958), which became OU from the double issue 20-21, from 1964 to 1974, a pioneering magazine that went beyond the book to explore intermediality. Chopin published poèmes-partitions, dactylopoèmes, and works by artists such as Bernard Heidsieck, François Dufrêne, Jean Berthier, Gianni Bertini, Julien Blaine, Pierre et Ilse Garnier, Claude Pélieu, Gette and Raoul Hausmann, blending concrete poetry, Lettrism and historical avant-gardes. The magazine becomes a space for collective creation, where each issue is a work to be read, listened to, seen and manipulated.
Chopin defends a non-verbal poetry, free from the book, and opposes concrete musicians accused of appropriating sound poetry without recognition. OU also innovated with its material layout: sleeves, posters, discs and objects to be unfolded, transforming reading into a sensory experience.

The magazine ceased publication in 1974, with issue triple 42-43-44, due to a lack of resources and new creations. Despite this, OU remains a model for later experimental magazines, such as Doc(k)s and Banana Split, which take up its intermedial, collective approach. (Source, Gaëlle Théval, Une revue pour sortir du livre : OU-Cinquième saison, in Revue des revues, 2014, pp. 12-23).
