Paul-Jean TOULET (1867-1920). L.A.S., on a L.A.S. from André DUNOYER DE SEGONZAC addressed to him; 4pages large in-8 (mourning); Toulet's letter written in pencil on half of the 1st page.
Segonzac doesn't feel capable of illustrating Toulet's book: "I am unfortunately completely devoid of imagination and would certainly do something of no interest". He recommends Charles Martin, "who has some very fine illustrations on display at Devambez, and in particular a series on Salomé. I can hardly think of anyone else who could do something in the style that would be appropriate"...
Toulet forwards this letter, and thanks for a postcard shipment. He would like to receive a catalog of the Musée de Lyon, but "hates guides and summaries". Referring to Segonzac's letter, he adds: "Je vs repasse la main pour les illustrations. But M. Laffitte hasn't written anything to Martineau yet - which worries me. I'm still unwell"...
Attached is a small L.A.S. from Jules Massenet to a friend, November 8, 1892.
