Michel BUTOR (1926-2016). 3 L.A.S., February-August 1971, to Jean-Paul Cathala; one postcard, one page in-4, one page large in-8 on lace-edged paper, one envelope.
Nice, February 5, 1971. Thanks for sending the Cahier de poésie [Zoo, Avant-Quart (Pour les enfants 1), no. 19 (1970)], which was very successful, and which he lent to his daughter's teacher, who uses it in class. Appointed professor at the Faculté de Lettres in Nice this year, he has settled in the region. They're really enjoying it. He will soon be leaving for the United States and England, and in May will be in Paris to "sign the press service for two new books by Gallimard"... - St-Laurent-du-Var June 4 (on a lace doily). He won't have time to see Cathala in Paris from June 16 to 19, but gives his summer vacation schedule in the hope of a visit. He leaves for Australia in September... St-Régis-du-Coin August 3, 1971. On the back of a printed postcard of his poem optique Perle, for France Gaspar [Métamorphoses, n°15-16, May 1971], from which he has crossed out in blue felt-tip the 13 mentions of the verb "COULER". He gives his itinerary and various addresses for the summer, then leaves for New Zealand, returning to Saint-Laurent on October 17...
