Louis DELLUC (1890-1924). Autograph manuscript, Chagrine, demoiselle photogénique; approx. 79pages mostly in-4, and 17 p. dactyl. (edges chipped on some ff.). Working manuscript of this novel about cinema, which seems to have remained unpublished. It features Louis Feuillade, Abel Gance and Marcel L'Herbier. The manuscript is abundantly crossed out and corrected, and partly written on the back of flyers from the magazine Cinéa. It comprises 10 chapters, including chapters VII and VIII in typescript (the ms of chap. IX is accompanied by its dactyl.); in chap. V, Delluc inserts excerpts from the magazine Ciné pour tous. 2 autograph notes show that Delluc wanted to reuse part of Chagrine in Amourec, of which we have the manuscript of the first 9 pages. We enclose 2 typescripts (one in duplicate) of a project for a dramatic adaptation of Chagrine, a "comedy of sentimental intrigue" in 3 acts. Enclosed: - a L.A. (draft, one edge damaged, wet, 2 p. in-4 on Cinéa letterhead), Paris July 13, 192[1], to Roumanoff, on the poor situation of Alhambra Film, and requesting that he be given the rights to Fièvre and Cinéa. - Typescript, signed at the top, of Un mariage à Marseille, a play in 3 acts (dactyl. Compère, 178p.). Typescript of the novel Monsieur de Berlin, with autograph signature and address (5 rue de Beaune) at the top (dactyl. Compère incomplete, pp. 1-70 and 230-237, end missing). Plus 2 small typescripts: scenario for La Rose perdue in one act and 2 tableaux (5 p.), and argument for Pomme se marie (1 p.).
