Gaston CHAISSAC (1910-1964). L.A.S. with drawing, June 9, 1959; 4 pages in-4 on school paper.
About a teacher of peasant origin, who "to taunt her pupil who was drawing bonshommes, called her a Chaissac, to the great shame of this child and the great joy of the whole class [......] It's hardly surprising that this lady should have mistaken my painting for a child's drawing and found it perfectly laughable, but what is more surprising is that she should have mistaken my status as a satirical writer for God knows what, and dared to use such gall against me". Everything they say about him leads him to say: "The clergy and secularism, two fine pieces of shit, but Madame Jacqueline Desraison's painting finds favor in my eyes". This is followed by a rambling digression on a widow and the weather, concluding with a postscript: "The peasantry is more likely to produce good ploughmen than pedagogues with the necessary tact and breadth of vision".
On the last page, an abstract drawing in blue pen (approx. 18 x 13 cm), with this addition in the margin: "Yesterday was the 1st anniversary of the death (by crushing) of Béguine, the little dog of rené cartron, the cartwright of Ste florence".
