On one side the inscription: 丙辰 永受田作 - "Made by Yong Shoutian one autumn month of the year bing chen", i.e. 1916. Amethyst stopper. Height : 6 cm Provenance: Millon-Jutheau sale, Drouot, October 3, 1988, lot 66 (illustrated). Young Shoutian worked in Beijing between 1898 and 1926. He often painted in large flasks, particularly battle scenes. This snuffbox is therefore an atypical example of this artist's choice of colored glass, subject and quality of execution.
