Slightly flattened ivory katabori-type Netsuke depicting a bearded stranger standing with his head turned to the right. He wears a wide-brimmed conical hat and holds the hem of his cloak in one hand, while the other hand strokes his long hair falling over his shoulder. His expression is grotesque, with a crushed nose. The himotoshi are formed by one hole, slightly smaller than the other, both generously hollowed out and cut obliquely into the figure's lower back. Nice patina on the reverse. Unsigned. Japan, mid-Edo period (1603-1868), 18th century. H. 10.5 cm; weight: 22 g
