Behind the name Atelier Palègre lie two artists, Jean-Paul and Suzy Brunet - a couple who trained at the École d'Art de Valence during their studies. After completing their training, they opened their studio together in Ponsas (Drôme), where they initially devoted themselves to a highly successful utilitarian production. It was in the 1970s that Jean-Paul decided to turn his attention to artistic creation, freeing himself from functional pieces, and creating rough, sometimes monumental sculptures, with a play of voids and ruptures in the material.
