Our work reproduced on page 185. Atelier Les Argonautes originates from the artistic association of Frédérique Bourguet and Isabelle Ferlay. Both trained at the Beaux-Arts, they met in 1951, then founded their ceramics workshop in Vallauris in 1953. Their early production of objects in red chamotte clay soon evolved into creations with zoomorphic or mythological decoration, before turning to the use of stoneware in the 1970s. The formal purity and modelling quality of their creations, to which they add very light glazes, will characterize their work - until the closure of their workshop in 1979.
